Glenn and I collaborated on a Special Olympics Unified Sports project promoting the integration of girls with intellectual disabilities in sports in Kenya, which was the first of its kind in our region. Glenn, as the principal consultant for project sponsored by Nike, provided invaluable technical support to the event’s organizing team of partners. He freely collaborated with grassroots community sports coaches and other stakeholders to gain a better understanding of the potential and difficulties that affect sports development at that level. Furthermore, he expressed a strong interest in individual athletes and teams through one-on-one interactions, boosting their self-esteem. The trailblazer coach he is, Glenn instilled in us a team full of optimism and momentum to establish a bigger and better future for sports in our county.
COACH+ has provided me with several great learning experiences as a young coach. Glenn is always using his past experiences and critical thinking hat to bring innovative, high-tech and collaborative ideas to the table. I was privileged to attend the COACH+ Northern Ontario Coaching Summit, work with Glenn and COACH+ with our varsity women’s basketball program at Nipissing, and have Glenn as a colleague, mentor and friend during my time in the north.
