Furthering our exceptional relationships with the PGA of Canada and Special Olympics Canada, COACH+ is privileged to announce a new vision for Special Olympics golf coach training. Together, we’ve transformed the traditional one-day in-person training into a more comprehensive two-part coaching pathway designed to equip coaches better to deliver safe, effective, and impactful coaching to athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs).
On March 20, 2025, our Lead Coach Developer, Glenn Cundari, delivered the pilot for the new Foundations of Coaching Golf in Special Olympics training. This virtual course focuses on foundational theories and principles, giving coaches the tools to support Special Olympics athletes. By making this introductory training accessible online, the PGA of Canada and Special Olympics Canada expand opportunities for coaches nationwide.
The subsequent workshop, Applied Coaching for Special Olympics Golf, will take place in-person, diving deeper into golf technique and on-course tactics, further strengthening coaches’ skills.
With our combined love for golf and Special Olympics, COACH+ is proud to lead the way in coach development for this incredible community – it is some of our favourite work!
We look forward to launching the Applied Coaching course in Fall 2025. With our incredible partners, we’re on a mission to elevate coaching nationwide.
