At COACH+, we’re pleased to share that a meaningful project is approaching completion.
As long-time partners of Special Olympics Canada (SOC), we’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate once again with an organization close to our heart. With Floorball recently announced as SOC’s newest sport, COACH+ was invited to help shape the future of the sport by creating a coach education pathway to support its growth across the country.
Our work has focused on developing engaging and practical learning resources to support coaches as they step into this emerging sport. Floorball experts in Canada have contributed valuable insights and perspectives.
Vice President of Floorball Canada, James Daly, highlights the significance of this project: “Floorball Canada has worked closely with Special Olympics Canada to transition from Floor Hockey to Floorball, making fantastic progress nationwide. This partnership with SOC and COACH+ will be key in developing the sport and providing coaches with the tools to teach it confidently. We’re excited to see this growth benefit both the Special Olympics community and Floorball as a whole.”
We’ve developed reference material and workbooks for multiple delivery formats to ensure coaches feel equipped and supported. Every step of the process has only deepened our excitement about this addition to SOC.
Working alongside Special Olympics Canada remains one of the most meaningful parts of what we do at COACH+, and we’re proud to support the incredible athletes, coaches, and leaders that make up this community.
Special thanks to our partners at SOC and to contributors from Floorball organizations across Canada and around the world who helped bring this project to life. We’re looking forward to the launch of the SOC Floorball pilot very soon!
